Mathematics Rising

Yesterday I posted my first full length piece on Substack. I haven’t completely figured out the mechanics yet, so the same piece got posted twice. The theme of these pieces will be to use the facts and applications of mathematics to encourage readers to see mathematics as a human strength(extending the range of our reasoning and our senses), as a source of optimism (consistently extending the possibilities for thought), and as an indication of our belonging to nature. My views concerning mathematics and science are relevant to other aspects of my life including cultural and political issues. As a new substacker, my initial posts reflect this.

I hope you continue to be interested in these ideas. I am in the process of finishing a book with the title Mathematics Rising: the shadows of cognition. I’ll keep you updated as this project moves forward.
